My New Favorite Movie

I should probably be ashamed to say this, but I have seen "Fireproof" 5 times in the past 8 days. Sure, part of it is for Kirk Cameron (he has aged really well!), but I also love the story line. I can relate the the struggles of being married to an emergency worker (don't worry, Nathan and I are fine!) and it was good to see that portrayed on the big screen. Another reason I like the movie so much is because of who Kirk Cameron is in real life. I have gotten to the point where I have trouble watching movies if I know the actor/actress has a messed-up personal life. Kirk has been married to Chelsea Noble (whom he met on "Growing Pains") for 17 years and they have 6 kids. It is nice to see a dedicated father and husband be successful while still holding strong to his Christian values. Anyway, if you haven't seen the movie, please do. It's great for struggling marriages, but is also a good reminder to all about loving your spouse unconditionally and putting their needs first. I won't be offended if you don't like it as much as I do, but I definitely think that this movie is a "must see" for all.

Happy United States Day!

This afternoon, Mom, Katie, and I went to see "Get Smart". It was the second time for Katie and I, but we liked it so much that we didn't mind seeing it again. Steve Carrell cracks me up and we laughed through the entire movie for the most part.

In the evening, we had a cook-out with our families to celebrate July 4th (or United States Day, according to Jacob) and Granddaddy's 89th birthday.

Horton Hears a Who

Today, we went to the movies with my parents (and Nathan, although he isn't pictured above). The kids got to spend some time with their Mimi and Papaw, ate lots of popcorn, and savored their Sierra Mist (reserved only for special occasions). Emmaline was great (probaby because my mom held her the whole time). She happily munched on her string cheese while she watched the movie and then took a much needed nap. I must admit, that although it is geared towards kids, "Horton hears a Who" is enjoyable for adults too.

The Pirates Who Do Nothing

Today, Katie and I took the kids to see "The Pirates Who Don't Do Anything". Jacob can't remember the title for some reason, so he always calls it the "The Pirates Who Do Nothing" Anyway, it was a cute movie and it had a great message for kids (and adults too!). I won't give that away though, in case you want to go see it.

The Water Horse

Katie and Dad took the kids and me to see "The Water Horse: Legends of the Deep" today (In case you can't tell, my family really likes to go to the movies!). It was a cute movie and the kids loved that they could get their picture taken with Caruso. Amazingly, no one needed a potty break during the movie, and Emmaline was quiet even though she was awake for over half the movie. I am also happy to announce that Regal Cinemas now serves Coca-Cola Zero...yummy!

Oo-Ee, Oo-Ah-Ah, Ting-Tang, Walla-Walla-Bing-Bang

In case, you can't tell by the title of this post, my parents took the kids and I to see "Alvin and the Chipmunks" today. Having watched the cartoon growing up and listened to the Christmas CD too many times to count, I was curious to see what it would be like. I am happy to announce that the movie was really cute and brought back some fond childhood memories. The kids really enjoyed the show and Emmaline slept through all but the last 15 minutes, so I was able to enjoy it too. Thanks, Mom and Dad, for a fun day!

Girls' Day Out

Today was a fun day. Nathan's parents took Jacob and Gabrielle to lunch and to see "Mr. Magorium's Wonder Emporium". While they were gone, Mom, Katie, Emmaline and I headed to breakfast/lunch at Cracker Barrel and then to the Holiday Gift Show (our annual day-after-Thanksgiving tradition) at Hara Arena to do some shopping. We made some nice purchases although there seem to be fewer vendors every year. I'm sure this is due to a newer Holiday Craft Show that started at the Airport Expo Center 3 years ago. We might head to that one next year to see if it is better. Anyway, after we were done at the craft show, we went to see "Enchanted". It was a great movie...very funny! That pretty much sums up my day. It was so nice to come home to Nathan having bathed the other two kids and reading bedtime stories to them. Now everyone is asleep (including my hubby!), so I think I'll head there myself.
