Andy's Birthday

Today my brother turned 24. We went to Mom and Dad's to celebrate over dinner and cheesecake. Then we watched the movie G.I. Joe. I have to admit it was better than I expected.

Family Party

After the kids' party, we had our families over for dinner. Then, we opened presents, ate cake and astronaut ice cream, and enjoyed visiting together.

(And no, his "Big Brother" shirt isn't announcing anything! It's the one we used to announce that we were pregnant with Emmaline. He wanted to wear it today because it had an astronaut on it.)

Birthday Party with Friends

We opted for two parties to celebrate Jacob's 7th birthday...one with his friends in the afternoon and then one with our families for dinner. It worked out great doing it this way. He wanted a space theme this year and Mom made an awesome cake. I made cupcakes in the Reynolds mini star shaped foil pans that turned out cute too. He and his friends decorated alien masks, emptied a pinata, played outside (it was beautiful today!), and ate cake and ice cream.

Birthday Dinner at Red Robin

We took Jacob to Red Robin for his birthday dinner. He was so embarrassed when they came out and sang to him, but we all had a good laugh. Can't believe my baby turns 7 tomorrow!

Bounce U

For a long time, Jacob has really wanted to go to Bounce U, so we headed there today to celebrate his birthday. He had a blast playing on all the inflatables. Ellie spent half the time pouting in a corner, but by the time we went to the second room, she was ready for fun. Emmaline had a good time too, but there were lots of bigger kids there, so we had to be on constant watch so they didn't run her over or crush her (which almost happened several times!). Ironically, when we got home, Jacob had a birthday party invitation waiting for him in our mailbox from his friend, Nathan. The party is at Bounce U!

Honesty is the best policy!

Every 8 weeks, we have a conference call with Jacob's online teacher. We had a call this week and met in the online classroom. She and I talked for a bit and then she listened to Jacob read and asked him some questions. Then, she started asking him about contractions (not the kind you have when giving birth, but the kind you get when combining two words). This is something we haven't covered yet as it isn't in the curriculum until later this month. Anyway, he started to panic because he didn't know the answers, so I quietly started telling him the answers in the background. Mrs. Daley was impressed that Jacob knew all the answers, so she asked him if he had learned contractions before. His answer, "No, my mommy is telling me the answers!" Of all the times for for him to choose to be honest!!! She and I both got a good laugh out of it!

Sick

So apparently, this is what I get for blogging about how healthy Emmaline has been. She was fine this morning. We went to speech therapy, met my dad for lunch, went to the library and then came home so she could take a nap. When she woke up, her face was a snotty mess and she was running a fever (probably some virus she picked up when we were at the hospital on Mon.). I spent the evening cuddling with her on the couch until she fell asleep. These pics. are from after she had some medicine. Even when she's not feeling well, she is still a happy kid!
