It is amazing what will amuse a 19-month old. Emmaline figured out how to flush the toilet today and has done it lots of time since this morning. She pulls the handle and then claps her hands when she hears the flushing sound. It is too cute!

Carriage Hill Farm
Nathan's vacation is quickly drawing to a close with only two days left. I had ever intention of starting school again today, but we decided to take advantage of the nice weather and do something outside instead. We went to Carriage Hill Farm and had hoped to go across the bridge to explore what was on the other side of the farm. Alas, that didn't happen because of downed power lines from Sunday's windstorm, so we stuck to the side we knew best. The kids saw lots of baby animals, played in the schoolhouse, and hiked in the creek. We ended the trip with a stop at the Country Store for some penny candy and then met Nathan's mom at McDonald's for dinner on our way home.Wednesday, September 17, 2008
Indianapolis Zoo
It wouldn't be vacation without a stop at the zoo. We saw a dolphin show, rode the train, and looked at lots of neat animals.

Children's Museum of Indianapolis
We went to the children's museum today and it never fails to impress us. Whoever wrote the AAA tour book says that the museum takes approx. 2-3 hours and obviously doesn't have small children. We got there at 10:30 am and didn't leave until 5 pm when they closed. There was plenty to keep us busy. Besides the regular exhibits, they had a big section on cartoon animation and another on comic book heroes. If you are ever in Indy, this is a must-see!

At the Hotel
Emmaline loved standing in front of the air conditioner in our room. We had to move her every so often because it made her arms feel like icicles.
Indiana Highway Patrol Museum
We saw a sign for this museum off I-70 and decided to make a detour to see what it had to offer. It was free and there were lots of old cruisers to see. They also had guns, cameras, and items from their most memorable cases. The kids liked the cruiser the best because they could pretend to "work" with daddy. There was a cruiser that had two front ends joined together and the kids could play in it. There was no engine, but the lights and sirens were the highlight for Jacob and Ellie. Lucky for our ears, the museum muffled the sounds so it was only slightly annoying after about 30 minutes! After leaving here, we headed to our hotel to check-in, eat dinner, and swim.Heading to Indy
We left for Indianapolis this morning. The kids did well during the 2 1/2 hour drive and we only had to make 2 pit stops (restroom break and lunch).
