When Emmaline was born, we started seeing a lot of different doctors and therapists. One of those was a developmental pediatrician. It is similar to a regular pediatrician, but they usually specialize in children with developmental delays/special needs. While Emmaline is delayed in several areas, we are so proud of her for the progress she has made. I was really encouraged by our visit with Dr. Kasten today. She is amazed at how well Emmaline walks, communicates, and especially by how healthy she has been. Kids with Down syndrome tend to get sick a lot and, because of their small ear canals, have lots of ear infections. Emmaline only gets the occasional cold and has never had an ear infection (knock on wood!). We are so blessed to have this special girl in our family and pray that she will continue to remain healthy.Is there anything you'd like to know about Down syndrome or having a child with Ds?
