Cash for Candy...Brilliant!

Last year, our dentist, came up with a great idea to have the kids bring in their Halloween candy to send to our troops serving overseas. Each child's bag of candy is weighed and in exchange for the goodies, they get $1 per pound of candy. This year, Jacob and Ellie each earned $3 for their loot (which Mommy weighed several times last night to make sure they would come out even). There was also face painting, card making, and a balloon artist. We really look forward to this event every fall, but don't worry, I saved back a few treats for us too (okay, maybe it was a little more than a few!).

Emmy wasn't too keen of being held still for a picture. She loves to cuddle, but for the most part, she wants to be down on the ground exploring.

what a fabulous idea! I wish someone local did the same here. I have a fridge full of candy just begging to be eaten.
I loved that you weighed the kid's candy to make sure they were even - what a lovely "mom" thing to do!

Hi Jen,

Thanks for the award...I feel silly, but I have no idea how to "pick it up?" There's a lot I'm not sure how to do. Also, I wanted to tell you that your pumpkin carving post was so similar some or our own experinces...last year, we had the kids draw their designs on pumpkins (we didn't carve this year) and a few years ago, I did a pretty good Boots!
